On the road again:
Monday morning we continued our journey through Navajo country. We headed towards the Colorado River and Lake Powell in Page Arizona. Ranches lined the road and the land on both sides of the road was fenced in. Therefore, it surprised us to see cattle and horses just wandering along the side of the road on the wrong side of the fence. There were signs along the road to watch out for cattle and horses. Apparently, the fences were
not intended to keep the animals contained. The dam at Lake Powell is at the foot of an
800 foot canyon and is enormous. The Colorado River continues down from there. Currently, we are driving along the Vermillon cliffs. It has gotten very windy out and we had to pull some tumbleweed out of the grill on the front of the car. Currently, we are at 5,000 foot elevation and will continue to climb as we drive towards the north rim of the Grand Canyon at 8000 feet.
